I'm here in Memphis, TN. I've applied at Baptist, Methodist apparently isn't hiring, St. Francis isn't hiring, St. Jude isn't hiring. I've tried calling the recruitment offices and NO ONE answers calls, returns calls, or returns emails. The people I know who are finding any job in the hospital either waited a good long time, or their parents know someone who works there. I'm within 5 days of completing my 2nd semester(including med/surg), and will be done next December with my BSN. I really do want an internship but I don't know what else to do. I've tried to go by Methodist and I get the run around, I wait an hour to talk to someone who tells me to go talk to someone else. Or they say that I can't talk to anyone without an appoitment..well I can't setup an appointment if no one answers or calls me back. What should I do? Have a lot of people not worked in the hospital while in school?

I would go in person to each of their HRs and wait to be seen by someone. If they say you have to have an appointment, say that you have left messages by e-mail and voice mail and never got a response. Ask to speak to the manager of the HR if that doesn't get you anywhere. Good luck!
In person, I went to Methodist and they wouldn't even let me put in an application. But I'll try to go to the HR managers if I can once school gets out.

It seems so hard when you don't have the connections, some of my fellow students were lucky enough to have a parent(s) who works as a nurse or paired up with an instructor who can write recommendations for the facility in which he or she works.
with all that being said haha. Baptist called me back today wanting me to fax my CPR card, transcript and recommendation. So hopefully that works out.
Well they called me today and I have an interview Friday at 8:00. What sorts of things do you think they'll ask me? I'm glad it's actually going somewhere now
