Hello everyone,
I would like to have your opinions on my situation?
Last fall I applied to my CC and I've been put on the waiting list for Spring '09 (I'm number 25). I have a letter the Nursing Department sent me, stating that I met all the current admission requirements and that I am guarenteed admission for Fall '09.
Starting from next semester my CC is changing the admission requirements and they are making it mandatory to pass the TEAS test to get into the program. Today I met with my couselor and he told me that most likely they will also make the people already on the waiting list and already guarenteed admission take the test.
I think this is unfair, when we submitted our applications the TEAS was not a requirement and we were guaranteed admission based on the previous requirements.
I am very disappointed and discouraged right now, can they do this? Can they applied this new requirement to the people who already got their acceptance letters?
Any thoughts or advice, will be appreciated it.
Thanks for reading this far.

Daniela, don't be afraid of the TEAS it is not that hard at all, if you qualiffied already, you will be just fine with the TEAS, keep in mind that if you prepare well to the TEAS you might even bump up a few numbers on the waiting list and be safer.!
remember that school reserves the rights to modify or add requirements as they please check your admission pappers and you might find it written there!
Thank you for replying, yes I did a search on Google for the TEAS and it seems to me that I will have to study for quite some time to be ready and pass, especially for the Math part. But if this is what I have to do to start my program then I will do it..............I mean, we already took a lot of pre-reqs, the NET and a reading skills test to be admitted so you would think that's enough but apparently not.
The letter I received from them doesn't say anything about this test. It says that we have been accepted into the program. I understand they have a right to change their entrance requirements anytime they want, what I think it's not fair is to tell us that we are accepted into the program and then change everything and tell us we have to take yet another test to get in.
I think they should apply this new requirement to the people who will apply for next semester and not to the people who already applied and have already been accepted.
Mind you, even my counselor at this time, doesn't know exactly how they are going to do it and when we will be officially informed of this new requirement we need to meet. I just think it's very frustrating and I was wondering if this happened to anyone else here and if it did how did you guys deal with it.
Thanks again.

It's a bummer, but if you're high on the waiting list and guaranteed for Fall '09 and that's the ONLY thing you still have to do, think of it as only that one thing and that you have everything else done. Here's another test link I found helpful:
