Calling all RNs....

Hi! I am a first year nursing student. I just became aware of the NCLEX-PN. In another thread someone mentioned that student nurses can take the NCLEX-PN just after two sems into the nursing program. I was wondering if this was true. I was informed that various states have different policies. What is our state's policy? Thank you guys for your time.;)

I am unsure as to IL's policy on this...I would contact the IL Professional Regulation Board.

Hello,

I looked into this to a little while ago. From what I learned there is ONE local junior college in Chicagoland that offers the option to sit for the PN one. When I checked with the state it seemed that you must have authority from your school to sit for this and in order to do that you must have taken a couple of extra courses to allow for this.

If you search the state board of professional regulation you can find out who to ask or somehow search through all the questions about it in the nursing section.

It turned out very unrealistic for me to do that. Plus, at the time, my pct job paid as much as an LPN did anyhow.

Good luck if you choose to do this,

Thanks so much for looking into that.
