Call pay and bonuses

I too am in the midwest (Iowa) and am curious about this. I'm in a smaller rural hospital with 4 ORs and endoscopy. Our usual shift is 10 hours, 7a to 5:30p with call starting at 5:30 until 7 the next morning and 5:30 on Fri til 7a on Mon for the weekend. We are on call 1 night a week and q 5-6 weekend. Our on call pay is 1.50 (recently increased from 1.00). We are paid at least 1hr also if called in at all. We also are paid time and a half for callback. We are paid double for hours after 16hrs. Most weekends we do at least one case. Many weeknights on call we work until 6-7. We also do not receive benefits for call time, but do receive credit for benefits on low census hours like if the day is not busy and we go home early on low census.

We get 2.00 for carrying a beeper and they have to pay you for 3 hours if you get called in. This worked out well once because they called me in for a hip, and the surgery didn't go-they had to pay me for 3 hours anyway. Cha Ching!!!$$$$$$. Even if the case lasts less than an hour, you still get the 3 hours worth of pay. Time worked on call is paid as time and a half. We usually end up with 1 call per week and then every 5th or 6th weekend(3pm till 7am next morning)
