I am changing my career (a little late in life) and I want to enter into the medical field. I would like to start by taking a CNA program. Are there any CNA programs that I can take online or in the evening...that are not to terribly expensive? Thank you for your help! I greatly appreciate it!

you can probably find an evening program. i would try the department of public health because they license the programs. http://www.cdph.ca.gov/certlic/occupations/pages/aidesandtechs.aspx
it is preferable to fax information to the cna/hha/certification unit, fax (916) 552-8785, or send an email to the cna email address: [email protected]

you cannot do it on line because supervised clinical training is required.
training requirements to achieve certification, applicants must successfully complete either an atcs-approved training program1 or one of the department of education's adult education/regional occupation programs for nursing assistants. the minimum training requirements for california cnas are: 50 hours* of theory (classroom) and 100 hours of supervised clinical training in a nursing facility. *sixteen hours of training in communication, infection control, safety procedures (including heimlich maneuver), and promoting resident independence and rights must be completed before there is any contact with residents. http://www.cdph.ca.gov/certlic/occupations/documents/certificationfacts.pdf

never too late in life.. I am hoping to start school next year at 42. I am taking a cna course in January in Brentwood-- contra costa county...... www.ccsona.com.. also some junior colleges have them.. if you go to the state board of nursing - it shows junior colleges with rn programs.. i was searching through them yesterday for a class and saw some colleges that offered nurse assistant classes.
