I check the INS website and it looks the total time from the 140 petition to to approve of 485 take about 2 ys. However I heard the date of the their website is never precise.
If it is only2-3 ys, I can accept. But if it will take 4-5ys, I am afraid it is too long.
looking forward to hearing any input.

If all of your papers are in order, it should take you about two years to get your green card for working in California, but this doesn not take into account the time that it takes for you to apply to California for a license, etc.
Again, I recommend that you do not use California for initial licensure, as they do not issue a hard license until you have a SSN#.
I suggest that you look at http://www.visapro.com for more specifics about dates.
Have you applied yet?

Do you already have a green card? What type of visa are you on?
no, i didn't. I held f1 visa.
If you had an f-1, do you still have it? Did you attend nursing school in the US? Did you get an OPT when you finished?
thanks for suzanne.:)
