I have done the unthinkable(well in terms of CRNA acceptance). I made a C in patho which I had to take my first semester of nursing school over the summer. I really don't have an excuse the class was just really difficult for me and finding that way of studying that works for you while trying to understand really hard material just got the best of me. I'm really confident I can pull As and Bs the next 4 semesters but I wonder if that will crush my chances. And just FYI I live in MS and I attend UMC which has a CRNA program affiliated with UAB and that's where I am thinking about applying along with UT-memphis, OLOL, and LSU...thanks for any input from ANYONE!!!

I am not a nurse, but I am helping my wife go through the process of preparing for application to UAB. I also have read a lot of posts here and read a lot of CRNA school FAQ's.
She emailed UAB CRNA department her grades last month and asked what she needed to do in order to make herself more competitive. She has a 'C' in her under grad Patho class too. The response was retake a patho class and get the 'C's out of the last 60 hours of her transcript by taking more recent classes.
For you I'd say there are two ways to tackle that 'C'.
First, retake the course. Most summer courses are over a shorter time frame than Fall or Spring courses. It makes it more challenging to digest the material. If they offer it in another semester try doing it then.
Second, take a graduate-level Patho course once you graduate and start working. Several universities offer Patho by distance learning or online options. UAHuntsville and UAB are two...I am sure there are others. My wife will be taking a grad level Patho class this fall. Her 3rd grad course.
I'd take the Grad-level course. That shows you CAN handle the material and at a higher level than the Ugrad. That probably looks better than retaking the same class.
Hoep that helped!
Hope this helped!
