BSN and RN

A bachelor degree specific to nursing is not required, but a bachelor degree of some form or another is. You have to have a bachelor degree in something and be an RN. Personally I think they should require the BA to be in nursing or science. If you already have a BA though then I would try your luck to see if you get in without doing the BSN, keep in mind there is a time limit on some classes so if you took your statistics cours 7 years ago while getting your other BA then you need to retake it, I think the limit is 5 years. And I wouldn't think it would affect your salary at all, employers will still veiw you as a CRNA, their not going to look down on you because you didn't take classes that would just waste your time when you could go for the prize right away, BSN courses really aren't even science related except for the pathophys, genetics, etc... that are required to complete the BA in some cases, you still know just as much about anesthesia which is what you're there to do.

I understand that a BSN is not always required to go into CRNA School. But will stopping at RN hurt you in the long run? Will I make less than the guy next to me who went all the way to BSN the to CRNA? Promotion? And is it simply worthit?

The statement at the top confuses me. So its only 4 years for BSN?

The information you have is not very accurate as far as how long it takes to receive an Assoc. degree. It takes two years of full-time nursing classes, in addition to about 12-18 months of pre-reqs. Total time is about 3-3.5 years for an Assoc. degree.

If you are planning on going to CRNA school, you might as well get your BSN in the beginning if possible.

I grad. with ADN after 3 years this May, first year prereq's, next 2 years ADN program, then my BSN will take me another 1.5; I'm getting closer every day.........
