BSN to BSPT

Published

Anbody here considered to proceed to BSPT course after completing BSN course? How many additional units of study did you take? How long does it take to finish the course? Thanks.

why BSPT anyways?! you may consider having a MAN or MSN so you could teach afterwards... did you already pass the NLE?! :)

just considering it as an option:D... there's an oversupply of nurses nowadays and undersupply of RPT's... Just finding a way to a secure future by being able to find a work abroad...It's difficult for me to find that dream job abroad. Cant explain it here though.

BTW Ill be finisihing my MAN this March '10.

Is BSPT a Physical Therapy degree? Where do you plan on working abroad?

^ yes it is maam... U.S.:D

Thank you for clearning that up. Here's an FYI: In the US the minimum qualifications in order to practice as a PT would be a MPT. They're slowly phasing out that and a DPT will be required. If you can get into a MPT then I would go with that. I know that sometimes they do accept the BPT but those individuals must have received their diploma (unsure about license) before a cut off date. I'm unsure what the cut off date is but you may want to check with the state board of your interest if your future plans are to go to the US. They may accept a BPT now, but you may be restricted to working as a PTA (Physical Therapy Assistant) here in the US. This is all something that was told to me, so don't quote me on it. The best place would be for you to consult with someone from the state board. Good Luck

Hi dangerousbeauty,

I'm originally a physiotherapist from the phils...i did love being a physio but it's expensive to get my registration here in australia so i ended up being a nurse which i'm loving it. although i missed being physio at times esp the difference of the nature of work..but if that's what you want, i think you need to take physics 2 then proceed to 3rd year..so all up its another 3 years more...by then if you secure a job or at least do volunteer work it will be a passport to go abroad anyway..but as i have said earlier, its your your choice..good luck..

aww...is it really 3 years? hmmm... what are these subjects that are needed for the BSPT? Botany is one of them right? ...and then major subjects...

HI,

nope!!botany is the study of plants and classification..so it's nothing like that. you need biostat.,and as i have said physics 2, zoology 1&2..then major subjects...electrotherapy,hydrotherapy, neuroanatomy 1 & 2, neurology, therapeutic exercises 1,2,3, physiology 1,2, kinesiology, prosthetic and orthotics, PT ethics, then med/surg 1,2,3,4...then 5th year is 1 year internship programs to 10 different hospitals...Good luck...:)
