Board of Nursing Question

I know I am probably freaking out a little in advance but wanted to ask(Graduation in August 2017 from BSN program). I graduated from Ivy Tech Community College in 2015 with an Associates Degree in General Studies. I took my GED in 2006. On the Indiana State Board of Nursing Application is is asking me to submit records of having passed the GED. Yesterday, I contacted the Indiana education department to try and get the records and they was unsuccessful in tracking down the records. Also, I went online to diplomafinder.com which is where the place I took my test stated that their records are kept as well. This website also Told me they would get back with me in a few days.

Wanted to ask you if there is anything you think I should do. My mind is racing and am freaking out if they don't find the records what happens? what does that mean for me? I didn't need them when I registered as a student with the nursing program my highest level of completion was a college degree. I have been in school total for 7 and a half years. I do not want this to hinder me getting a license. I can't contact anyone again until Monday. Didn't know if anyone in the community would know if I am unable to obtain these records what happens? Do I just submit my Associate Degree Records? Will I have to take the GED again?

Needing some guidance, advice, help, lol anything please.

Alisha

A friend of mine had a similar situation. She never went to high school, therefore had no high school diploma. She did get a GED. No problem with her getting an AS with honors. The university that she wanted to attend to obtain a BSN refused to admit her without a high school diploma, even though that is taken care of by a GED, and the high school diploma is trumped by a college degree. She never prevailed as far as I know. I think this might be an individual policy with each school. Your college degree should suffice, but not to say that it will. I would submit it.

I'm still trying to track down the records/ scores of my GED. I don't know why but Ivy Tech never asked me for them or they were able to look them up on their own because it was never an issues. I tried getting them in 2010 before apply for Ivy Tech and had the same issue. They weren't able to find my records, but Ivy Tech never asked so I didn't even think about it again. Like I said, when applying to get into the Nursing School my records/degree from Ivy Tech was enough.

I'm only asking since on the application for a license in the state of Indiana it says, if you did not graduate from high school please attach GED scores with application.

I will not be able to get any more information until Monday to see what I should do. I'm glad I found this out now so It hopefully will be taken care of by the time I'm able to sit for boards. (Fingers-crossed).

Thank you for taking time out of your day to reply to this post.

If they only ask for the scores, by any chance, do you remember them? I remembered my SAT scores forever.

The GED has multiple scores. One for each section: math, English, social studies, and science. Plus an overall score and an average. I don't ever remember really even focusing on it other than the words PASS.
