BMCC Nursing Program Spring 2017

Hi. Hoping to connect with bmcc nursing program hopefuls.

Please feel free to post here while we wait for calls/letters.

Did everyone take the Kaplan? If so, how did you do?

I was waiting for this post! lol! Hiiiii everyone That Kaplan had me stressed out for months, finally did it and got it over it yesterday. Got a 74% overall hope that's enough to get in, I have a 3.9 gpa and I applied for the evening program. Good luck to you all, from looking at all the gpa and Kaplan scores I'm sure you all will get in! And I really hope we don't have to wait until January :angrybird10:

Hello everyone!! it sounds like everyone has performed very well on the exam! I am also applying for the morning program and I received a 76% overall score! My Pre-req GPA is 3.7 so i hope this will get me through the door!! I wish the best of luck to everyone here on applying to the program!! Please keep us updated if anyone received that anticipating call :nailbiting:

Also, during the time we took the exam, the exams FROZE!!!!! Was anyone in that room with me on Nov 29th, @ 12:30? Has anyone heard from the Chairman of the Program? I plan to go pay a visit to the nursing department just to be proactive on this!

Hi. Thanks everyone for sharing on here!! I think we all did great. And yes the computers crashing during the exam. Omg. Was distracting to say the least. But we worked well under pressure ;) that should count for something

Yes the computers crashing was very distracting!! I just heard from the nursing dept that those who took the exam Nov 29th around 12:30 and noted on their results what happened during the exam will be receiving a phone call from Mr. Sierra to retake the exam!!!!! The new date is I believe Dec 13th!!!

Really? Im not taking the exam again. Guess for those who didn't pass it's a good thing. Kind of an unfair advantage to get a second chance

I don't think its fair , but perhaps if I was in their position and the computer froze on me then I'd want another chance? Idk, is that only for the certain people who took the exam at that time?

Yeah for the 12:30pm on the 29th. My computer froze several times and I had the same distractions...but managed. The time also froze so it's not like you lost time. I just hope that seeing it the 2nd time isnt much easier for those retaking it and the scores all go up...

They are only allowing the people who experienced this problem on November 29th to retake it, if they choose to retake it. I can't speak for others, but my computer froze a few times as well and in one of those times it skipped 3 questions. Because of this inconvenience 3 questions graded as "incomplete" on my grade sheet. If this inconvenience didn't effect your exam in regards to the questions or manipulating the time then I can see why it would be unfair.

True. If I wasn't ok with my score I would want a redo too. There was a lot of distractions going on and one of my questions wasn't graded. Good luck to anyone here who is retaking it.

I also took the test on the 29th at 12pm. I was so nervous and couldn't concentrate on the exam, but I dont think I will be retaking it because there's a chance I will get a lower score (I would be so upset at myself lol)The questions I got wrong were mostly writing, and I have no idea what I did wrong. It was very tricky. Plus I didnt have any incomplete, but for whoever did, I totally understand why they would like to retake it.

I'm getting nervous reading these post because I didn't do very well on the Kaplan (70%) but I'm hoping my 4.0 GPA and my bachelors degree count in their deciding process. I didn't really prepare for the exam therefore I'm prepared to accept an unfavorable decision. If you want to be successful you must be willing to consistently practice. Still, I'm leaving it in God's hands now.
