BMCC Fall 2019

Published

Hi guys,

Entering BMCC as a transfer for Spring 2019. Anyone here applying for Fall 2019 candidacy? Do you know when we apply for the candidacy? When are registrations for Fall opening? Do you know how strong the competition normally is?

Hi,

I'm sorry I can't answer your question. I'm on the same boat and would like to know how competitive it really is.

Hi @DreamCatcher215, I hope someone who has more experience with how it works at BMCC can respond. I have read that as long as you complete all 4, you should be good to apply. Trying to find the dates for the Kaplan test for Fall 2019 but its not even on the website. They only have 2017 in there still. What classes are you taking this spring?

Hi, I am planning to apply for the weekend/night program. I think you need to make the appointment at the nursing department first. After the advisor reviews your transcripts, he will tell you if you can take the Kaplan Exam. I'm taking microbiology now and I've completed all the other prerequisites. I got 4.0 GPA so far. I am a little nervous about the reading/writing portion of the Kaplan exam because english is not my first language.

Hello, I am three weeks into the first semester of BMCC's Nursing program and I have heard unofficially that about 50% of the people who apply, get accepted into the program. Congrads on having great GPAs but your next hurdle is the Kaplan Entrance Exam. It's long like three hours and some of the questions I found difficult. I believe the exam is given toward the end of the semester, check with the nursing office mid-semester. For transfer students they will want to see transcripts with the grades for your pre-req classes before they will let you take the exam. I'm a transfer student and they made me take Math 104 at BMCC, then wait another semester before I could take the entrance exam. My advice at this point, get the review book and study, study, study for it. Some people say the review book is not worth buying because about half of it is not applicable for the entrance exam. The parts that are there made my life easier and remember they also make the exam. Others have done it, you can too. Focus, btw I was homeless living on the street then and I am still homeless. Hope I helped you, the school will not make it easy for you.

@glenrubin I believe I'm in a similar boat as you in that I had to take (and actually currently taking) Math 104 this Spring semester, which, from my understanding from your response, means I cannot take the Kaplan until after Fall semester 2019? Can you advise when did you submit your application? I will have all pre-reqs completed at the end of this Spring semester so trying to see how I can go about planning a timeline for application, etc.

BTW, thank you for your input and all the info. Congrats on being in despite all the hurdles you faced and still face, that's amazing! Did you do the day or weekend/nights program? How is it?

?

@Nursedotun that's awesome! I have to apply this Fall for the Spring 2020 day program since I'm still taking the remaining pre-reqs this semester. Good luck!

Please forgive me, I didn't even know you had written me. I'm still not familiar with how this new site works. I'm so sorry I can't be of more help right now, but I don't know all of the specifics. I'm planning on visiting the Nursing Dept. this Monday. My understanding is that you need to speak to the advisor (on the 6th floor) and ask to sit in on the Kaplan test. The advisor will look over your transcript and let you know if you're missing anything. If everything looks good she will schedule you to take the Kaplan.

Once I speak with her, I'll follow up with more info. Sorry!

Hello future nurses. I am a first semester nursing student at BMCC. First contact the nursing department and let them know that you are interested in applying. Second, after you have completed your pre-reqs they will review them and also have available any and all college transcripts, they want to see them. This is all before the Kaplan test. They will then tell you when the exam is ( usu end of semester and it’s free ). Then you will find out in 3 or 4 weeks if you are accepted or not. Hope this helps. Any more questions email me, [email protected]

tired like everyone, had clinicals today, now back to studying, midterms next week

Hi guys i wish the best for you all,

i am taking MAT104 and PSY100 and i got advice that i need to take BIO420 to apply for evening classes and also need job letters that saying i am working full times right now other wise i can not apply for the evening classes. do you guys have any advice for BIO420, SPE100, and ENG201? one that i know is it is better to finish those classes especially SPE100 and ENG201 even though it is flexible requirement because it is really hard to take other classes together while you are taking nursing classes. and also for the kaplan test too. thank you!!

@DreamCatcher215 that's okay, thanks for responding! how did you make an appointment? Is there a number to call or email add? Mondays are actually the only days where I can be in school early so would also like to see if I can make an appointment with the dept. then too. Either way, please let me know when you get more info. It's so hard to find any info, even my current advisor couldn't give any specifics ?
