Hey guys. I have a form question again. We do blood patches so rarely that we don't really have a protocol/policy for this, or any flow sheet. Do you guys use a pre-printed flow sheet for blood patches? If so, do you have any examples of them? We had a blood patch yesterday, and although it went well, we were pretty unorganized about it. I'd like to make a packet with consent and everything that we can just pull out.
Thanks in advance!

Anesthesia dept does everything for blood paatches. They don't have any kind of consnet form that I know of, but I have only seen them used before removing the epidural catheter in cases that they thought would result in a spinal headache otherwise. I can see how you would need consent if you were doing one after the epidural cath is removed and the pt has a spinal headache since that requires another epidural placement. We don't have any kind of paper work though since anesthesia deals with it.

We do them occassionally also and we use a blank surgical consent and fill in the blanks in ley terms/medical terms...We do not have any special paper work we just use a nsg observation sheet even if they are returning from home which I cringe every time I have to do it, beacuse I know when something bad happens that is when every one is going to be criticizing/analyzing the situation, so please I would like to know what paper work does other places use :uhoh21:
