BIMS assessment

Who conducts the BIMS assessment? I've been in one building where the MDS nurse does it and one where the SSD does it?

And can the Social Services person do it even if they don't have a social services director certificate? In most buildings 99 and under the SSD only has a high school diploma.

    The facility may designate anyone” to conduct the interview provided the interviewer is cognizant in the techniques to perform the task. The BIMS techniques are explained throughout Chapter 2, Section C of the RAI. Even a licensed professional, without sufficient knowledge, can mislabel a resident's cognitive mental abilities. A high school grad, with proof of competence, can do the interview.
