Best ABSN Programs

Hello.

I am applying to an ABSN program for Spring 2012. I originally decided to apply to Georgetown. However, from reading several forums, I want to have some back up plans. I have already received my first Bachelor's Degree, but I wish to obtain a degree in Nursing and eventually enter the field of midwifery.

I was hoping that someone would be able to provide me with any advice or details about the most proficient ABSN programs. I'm trying to find out what the acceptance rates of these institutions and anything that might give my application an edge over the other applicants'. I have accepted that I may be moving in order to attend these institutions, so I am also looking for any hospitals that provide scholarships or loan reimbursement programs in exchange for work after graduation.

I have looked into these institutions:

1.Georgetown University:

2.Johns Hopkins University

3.New York University

4.Marymount University

5.Duke University

6.University of Chapel Hill

I don't know if they are the best, but I have heard the most about them.

I have also looked into these scholarship/reimbursement opportunities:

Virginia Hospital Center

CampusRN/AACN Nursing Scholarship Fund

Children's Hospital of Atlanta

Washington Hospital Center

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

THANK YOU!!!!

Hi I am just curious did you ever find out anything more about scholarship/reimbursment programs.....I am out of work and currently looking to do a career change to nursing which is something I have wanted for a long time so any help paying for it would be awesome!!! Please let me know thank you so much!!!!

I went to Marymount University. It is a great school, but be prepared to pay to live in Arlington. Also MU is a private school. If you are able to move then I would look EVERYWHERE. If money is an issue think about cost of living. Look at schools in Iowa, South Dakota, North Dakota etc. You can get an apt and live a lot cheaper in places like that. Looks for places with a better economy and there will be more part time jobs. You have to just hit it hard and do what you need to do.
