Before it was Chamberlain

I'm trying to find information on "The Deaconess School of Nursing" from before it was sold to DeVry. What I'm finding is very minimum and mostly what Chamberlain themselves has published. I would like to know things like why was it sold and would it ever be in danger of being sold again. And if it was sold again what would happen to degrees awarded from there? Most of what I find when I Google Deaconess School of Nursing or College of Nursing, isn't the same school established in 1889 Chamberlian talks about. Does anyone know where I can find any of this? I'm very interested in their BSN program but since it's not a public state school I would just like to know some background information.

    I certainly understand your desire to explore the history of the school you are considering and wish you well in finding the information you are seeking.

    However, I hope you understand that their past has little bearing on the quality of the school or its future. Once a big corporation buys a school, the school belongs to the corporation and is under the control of that owner. The school belongs to DeVry now, and its history has no real bearing on its future. If you are looking for information to use to help you make your decision ... research DeVry.

    I don't mean to imply that I have something bad to say about DeVry, just that it is the owner now and the entity that will be determining the school's current and future policies, quality, etc. I'm always a little wary of for-profit nursing schools controlled by non-nurses (business people more interested in profit than service), but I have heard nothing negative about DeVry in particular.

    Thank you. I see what you are saying and mean. I'm interested yet wary too. But I've heard nothing negative of either DeVry or Chamberlain either.Trying to decide what's best isn't as easy as I thought it would be.

    I grew up in the St. Louis area and the Deaconess School, had always been very well respected. The school was acquired from an area hospital that was shut down a few years later.
