well, at NOVA they only require 33 credits to get in to their program! so that is a great option!!
At UM, they accept students even if they don't have all the pre-reqs, you can take them during the program... it's expensive, but they are GREAT at looking for scholarships for you, so a lot of people there have them!
Barry, I am not sure about barry, I do not know many who went there.
about the community colleges, if you can go to a university, that is honestly the best. once you have your AS in nursing you will want to go back for your BSN, I am doing that now, and I will not be done with RN-BSN until 2010
That's true..i do have some pre-reqs that i need to finish for UM's requirements...i think the only thing i'm worrying about now is bring up my gpa..especially the science gpa..hopefully i can bring that up with anatomy + physiology. I agree with you on the B.S.N option...i wouldn't really want to go to a community college after completing all these pre-reqs..
Thank you for your info!
Why wouldn't you want to go to a CC?
B/c my goal is to finish my bsn as quickly as possible..and at a cc i would have to get my r.n. and then do r.n.-b.s.n..i mean it's an option, like last resort, but not out of the question. Miami-dade is also very difficult to get into supposedly..but it would be much cheaper

Not necessarily. i dont know where you live but if you live close to Boca Raton FAU offers the RN-MSN program. i plan to go this route and knock 2 birds with one stone plus FAU is a public university so its not that expensive. attend a CC get you RN licence and then most likely your employer will pay for your continuing education to achieve your goal. good luck in your decision. heres the link---check it out.

they also have other locations with the same programs options
I tried to cut and paste from MDC's Website. These are the prereqs you need. Also Human Growth and Development didn't show up. And yes I do go to MDC NS

I know they have RN-MSN option at barry.
I want my BSN and do not want my master's in nursing. I want the bsn to have other options to work in, and a lot of places require BSN degres.
It is so so good to get your BSN out of the way in two years. I spent 2 years at a community college to get my AS in nursing, and also I had spent 2 years doing pre-reqs at another community college as well to get my AA.
I love being a nurse, but I hate school. In those 2 years that I went to a community college for my ASN, I could have done 2 years getting my BSN also!!! (I was at nova's bsn program, but it did not work out, so I feel very lucky to have gone to a CC to get my degree and it was 100% less cheaper than nova--- so no loans and same great job!)

About me: This is the beginning of my 2nd year ..completing the pre-reqs for Nursing school. Currently I am taking Physiology, Physiology lab, Intro to ethics, Stats, and Intro to Nursing. I go to FIU, which has a highly competitive program..the problem is with the recent budget cuts at school, the enrollment of students per semester was reduced from 70 Students...to 50!...Crazy, i know.. So I've been trying to do research on other schools in the southeast area, such as Nova Southeastern, Barry, University of Miami, etc..but i haven't quiet decided yet...I really just want to start the nursing program already. I know other programs like Barry and UM require more pre-reqs than FIU, so i would have to complete those before i apply to any other program..I'm just worried about the competitiveness of the programs...i currently have a C in micro and micro lab, B in chem and a in chem lab. Anyone have any suggestions for these schools, any info regarding their program, class equivalences?
Thanks!
