Bad grades before applying

I am attending Wayne County Community College to become a nurse and my very first semester I failed all of my classes because me and my daughter became very ill. Well every semester after this I have received 3.6 or better do I still have a good chance of being accepted into the program? I'm just really nervous because this is all I have ever wanted to do as a career.

What is your overall GPA with the failed classes? And if you don't mind me asking, why didn't you withdraw from the classes before the deadline instead of failing them?
