Background Check Issue- MBON

Published

Hi everyone, I wanted to know if anyone has had a similar experience. I was arrested in 2006 (18 years old) in PA for possession of paraphenalia. I just passed my NCLEX 12/2017. When I checked the MBON website I noticed that my license had not yet been posted-- about a week later. I called the board to find out why. I had checked "no" when it asked if I had ever been arrested. Honestly, I completely forgot and overlooked this arrest because I was never actually taken into custody. It was stupid, I know. My issue is that I have a job offer that is to begin January 8. Has anyone had a similar experience with background checks? Do you know how long it will take before my license is posted? I have sent over all of the required documents. I actually drove the 8 hour round trip to retrieve all of the court certified documents and have them sent to MBON. The woman I spoke to on the phone told me that this will NOT affect me getting my license, but offered no help as to a time table and said there is nothing I can do to expedite this process. If anyone has had a similar experience and can offer a better time table, please let me know. My only concern is that I have already had to delay my start date for this job once because I failed NCLEX the first time, so I doubt they will allow for a second extention (Plus I'm 5 months pregnant...)

Anyways, any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Hi I think I will be in a similar situation as you when I graduate in May. Any updates?

Any updates? I am getting my background check done to be a school volunteer on Monday, so I am hoping that will get me some idea of what I am looking at. I lived in a county that was speed trap haven and cops were jerks. They would harass you and stalk you if you looked at them wrong. The tickets were like 250$ too. So when you couldn't pay, they would suspend your license. Even after one ticket. It sucked. So I got like two misdemeanors bc I was a broke single mom and literally just had no money and half of the time I had no car. Now I am freaking out about it. They were always dropped in court though, so no convictions.
