Hello!
I'm considering going back into nursing to do....something. I was an RN and worked several different areas in the hospital setting before I stopped and stayed home to raise my family. I've been out of the field for almost 9 years (the majority of my career). I've maintained my license through my state.
My question is, how do I go about figuring out what area of nursing I want to do again? I really would like to spend a significant amount of time touring and observing different ares (kind of like in nursing school) but I have no idea how to go about doing this. I'm assuming this may be more difficult than I would like to think it would be. I'm considering all areas of nursing again. I am not willing to work nights though...so I realize that limits me a bit.
Any thoughts on how to move forward?

If you're thinking of acute care, you could contact their HR department and find out whether there they accept people for a shadowing experience. It could be difficult these days with COVID restrictions, but it might pan out.
You have a very broad statement of "different areas" do you have ANY idea of what you're looking for. Inpatient? Outpatient? Acute care? Specialty service? You can find lots of information on the internet about the jobs themselves if you're unable to meet people in person.
