Back to L&D

Published

I have been a nurse for about a yr now. I worked PP for 8 months. Then me and my hubby moved and I have been working at the health dept. Now that I cant stand sitting behind a desk and that my job has driven me crazy I am going back to women's health. I will be trained in all 3 areas - L&D, pp and nursery. I dont have any real good L&D experience so cross your fingers for me. I am nervous about that but I love my moms babies!

Best of luck to you!

I have been an L&D nurse for about 11 years now. I work 7p-7a on a very busy unit. It is my niche for sure! I really enjoy working with the new nurses. I found the most successful are the ones who really want to learn and work L&D. When you are on orientation, learn as much as you can from your preceptor, read your material, ask questions. You will make it!

L & D is fun, never a dull moment, something always seems to be happening. Still have your OB books from school? Review so you're prepared and get your hands on an AWHONN EFM book so you can start studying for EFM classess, usually required of L & D nurses. Good luck!:)

Relax!

It will take a little while (maybe a lotta while-depending on how you look at it) for you to get comfortable in your position. Sponge up all the information that you can get your hands on, stay alert, and remember that you are a good nurse.

Good luck!
