Assuming there are 14 Med A benefit days available, the Return/Readmission will pay until 5/8 so there is no need for another PPS assm't. If an OBRA MDS is due or a Sig. Change had occurred complete the assm't accordingly.

i also have a resident who was admitted private pay did admission then went to the hospital now med a do i need another admission or just a 5day

If you discharged the patient return anticipated, just do a 5-day. If an OBRA quarterly MDS is due or a Sig. Change had occurred you may combine the assm't.

If you discharged return NOT anticipated, you will do a 5-day and an Adm MDS.

did you do a quartely with your readmission/return MDS as the resident would have been due for their first quarterly which on med a res I usually combine with my 90 day assess or in this case i would have done it with my readmission/return mds. if you havent done the quarterly get it done now so you are not out of compliance and then the resident just reverts into your obra schedule of quarterlies and annual.

As for resident #2 if you discharged them return anticipated you only have to to a 5 day mds unless they met the criteria for a sig change then i would do it as a sig change/5 day if you discharged them return not anticipated then you treat them as a new resident

Hope this helps
