Asking for a Raise?

Have you ever asked for a raise? If so, how long were you with your practice and how did you go about doing it and how did it go?

Thanks!

When I graduated and tentatively accepted my first job, the initial offer was barely over what I made as an experienced APRN. I countered with $10k over what the offer was and told the APRN that I was interviewing with that it was the absolute minimum I would accept. I got it and a raise for all the APRNs.

Now, with 13 years experience, I ask for a raise when I produce more than others, make national presentations highlighting our practice, precept and generally go above and beyond. I am not in primary care so RVUs have no meaning at this time. However, we did bill in a Medicare bundle and I make sure that I'm one of the top billers if not the top biller.
