      BSN

Hello everyone ! I am having a hard time determining if I should obtain a ASN or BSN. I already have an Associate of Applied Science in Health Science w/ a minor in Medical Assisting. I have been told none of the credits will transfer. My ultimate goal is to become a CRNA ( certified registered nurse anesthetist ). You must have 1 year experience under your belt either in ICU or Acute Care to even apply for a MSN program. This is where my question is coming from. Should I get an ASN take the NCLEX and work for a year as an RN while completing my RN to BSN ? Or should I get my BSN take the NCLEX then obtain a years experience and proceed ?

Well if none of your stuff will transfer you are going to have to take a bunch of pre reqs even if you do an ADN. In that case that will take you a year or two before you can even start the actual nursing program. Might as well just enroll in a 4 year college and do the BSN. The other option here in NC is to do the RIBN program. (really just an ADN while being enrolled at a 4yr school and doing some courses towards BSN)

Moving on past a BSN to get your CRNA will require experience but it will have to be ICU experience not just acute care experience.

Good Luck.

The only prerequisites I will have to take is Chem and CNA. Where in NC is the RIBN an option ? I think ECU has this correct ?
