I found this article today - it depicts a change in current policy to recruit foreign workers for medical and hard to fill military billets:

WASHINGTON - Struggling to find enough doctors, nurses and linguists for the war effort, the Pentagon will temporarily recruit foreigners who have been living in the United States on student and work visas, or with refugee or political asylum status.

Has anyone come across peers that have not gotten selected by a military board for direct commission as a nurse?

This question assumes that he/she is otherwise qualified but yet was not selected. It also assumes that manpower requirements were not fulfilled for the year... thus trying to gauge the competitiveness of the board aside from the other competitive aspects ie person being healthy, having a bsn, no criminal record etc.
