argument after delivery

unfortunately for my entertainment... (LOL) the hospital has a strict 1 doc/on call room policy or I might have had to stick around for another episode

Nothing like a good Jerry Springer moment in L&D.

I heard an LD "legend" from one of our older nurses--years and years ago, she had a tiny little primip from overseas come in, in labour, with her husband accompanying. This little lady was coping really well, walking the halls etc. the nurse was really surprised when she heard the couple fighting in their own language in their room and went in to investigate.

She learned that the woman's lover was coming to the hospital to be her second support person. A little nonplussed, she left them to sort it out. Shortly thereafter, the husband was involved in a verbal altercation with a rather huge Caucasian guy at the door to the unit. The tiny primip came waddling out, said "you no behave, you BOTH go home" and kept her two very cowed consorts in line for the rest of the labour and delivery!!

When the baby was born, astonishment all around--the baby was very evidently fathered by someone with a much darker complexion than either of the men with her, each of whom had thought he was the father!!!! The third man never surfaced....

I don't know in this situation but I have a family friend who is Caucasian as is her husband at the time but their baby was darker than either of them. Turns out this friend had a great-grandparent who was African American but no one had really been aware of this until after the baby was born and questions were raised

I agree, there can be genes on either side that can show up at delivery. I had 2 brunettes have a baby with shocking red hair, but apparently there was a great aunt with red hair and she was the only one in the family who had it. Both lineages were Irish as well.

For the father to react in such a way, I have to think he had reason to suspect the baby might not be his well prior to the delivery. Either that, or he was looking for an excuse to get out.

That's a daily occurence where I work lol Most of the time, we are right when we play Who's the Baby Daddy lol My hubby and I both have red hair...imagine our surprise when I popped out one of my kids with a head full of jet black hair lol Black Irish this one was, not Red lol My OB, who is a good friend of mine and married to an Indian fellow said, Hmmm, that could be my hubby's lol We had a good laugh about it lol
