APU ELM Spring 2015

So the deadline for Azusa Pacific's ELM program is just a couple days away! :nailbiting:

Any other fellow applicants out there? I was wondering if the March 1st deadline is strictly for a Spring 2015 start date, or if there's any possibility of an earlier start? January of next year just seems soooo far away.

I applied to the Spring 2015 ELM start too! I wish there was a possibility to start this fall... Any clue when they'll be getting back to us? I was guessing over the summer.

Hello! Yeah, guessing from what older threads here say, it takes a while to hear back from them. Did you have your interview?

Hello! I also applied to the Inland Empire campus, and spoke with someone in admissions a few weeks ago, and was told that the committee will meet on April 29th, and we should hear back 2-3 weeks after that (Mid-May)!!! Yikes!! I am soooo hoping that we hear sooner than that...:(

I just submitted my application yesterday! I hand delivered it to the Azusa office. I'm so glad it's out of the way.

I've heard that if they don't have enough people at a location, they may choose from later applicant pool, but it's unlikely.

When did you guys submit yours? I'm worried mine was too late for an interview to be scheduled. :( I might get pushed back to summer 2015 if that's the case.

Rizzoland: thanks for the info! That's an insanely long wait!

Emily: I'm in the same boat as you...I turned in the application two days before the deadline :( But based on older threads, it seems that people do get called for interviews a couple of weeks later!

I actually spoke to my friend who applied a couple years ago recently and she applied on the last day of the deadline. She still got a call, like you said, for the interviews a couple weeks later. :) That's a huge relief for us!

Which campuses did you ladies apply to? I applied to the main campus.

I submitted my online application on 2/21, and the rest of my application was submitted on last Wednesday (2/26) but I haven't gotten a call about my interview yet. Also, maybe someone could clear this question up for me. I know in past years, after your first two years you do have a BSN, which allows you to work, gain NP experience, and finish your MSN at the same time. I have seen it stated that that is the case on some part of the website, but the main ELM website no longer mentions a BSN/MSN option. Am I totally missing something, or has the program changed?

I spoke with someone who's currently in the program and she told me that you do indeed receive a BSN after the first 2 years of prelicensure. But don't hold me to it, as I didn't double check with staff at the school.

That's awesome! I had no idea, but that's a great perk. I could definitely be able to help my parents with tuition if I could begin working after 2 years.

My friend who is in the program said the same thing! Who has had their interview so far? What is it like?

My friend got into the program last year. She said the interview is split into two parts, a written portion and the actual talking part. She was skyped, and given 20 minutes to answer a prompt about 3 people she was inspired by. Then the second part they asked her the usual, why she wanted to be a nurse type questions. She said it was really casual and easy.

Mine was actually just a phone interview, which made it much easier and relaxed. Basic questions like stated above: why nursing, what experiences related to nursing. Went over application, prereqs. Time for questions. Rank the 3 campus locations of preference. And the writing prompt. It's definitely scary going in, but it's actually not too bad.
