Appropriate or overkill?

Hello to all you wonderful nurses!

I need some advice...

I have been an RN for just over a month now and have been applying to various positions that I qualify for (new grad = scarce positions) endlessly. I understand that this might take some time and I undoubtably have the patience and the time to wait for that opportunity. I very much have a desire to get into psychiatric nursing and lo and behold I came across a job post today that seems to be sent from heaven! I fit everything BUT the one year experience that they list as "desirable". I filled out the application and all the required documents to back it up because it is a state government job. I also went to a job fair about two weeks ago and met the recruiter in person who has listed this posting. SO, my question to all of you is, because I don't want to miss out on this AMAZING opportunity, would it be appropriate to go down to the hospital and introduce myself again with some donoughts or bagels (this is my biggest concern) in hand as well as hard copies of my cover letter, resume, and backing documents? I just want to make a genuine impression of what kind of eager nurse is applying for this position without coming off to pushy and 'fake'. This is exactly what I've been waiting for and would just be so sad to not have fought for it hard enough.

Any advice from you beautiful people would be GREATLY appreciated!!!

Going in person is fine. Taking your documents is good. The food is overboard

Your instinct are right about that.

Good luck! Let us know how it works out.

Yeah....no food. Just yourself and your docuents :-) The bagels would be a silly touch.
