I have been at a new, and hopefully, last new employer for the last 7 months. I have been a RN for almost 30 years...and I must say that the orientation period was grueling !! Almost gave up at one point, thinking I was too old to transition to a fast paced, Med Tele Unit again. But I toughed it out and am feeling much more comfortable now, thanks to my coworkers!
Most of my coworkers are young nurses, many out of school for less than a year....and they are so dedicated, intelligent, energized and fresh!! I Love being with them! :1luvu: And they treat me like a respected coworker!!
We ask each other questions, help each other out! No one upmanship, no egos....this is my dream job. Even though we are soooo busy. Thank you, young nurses....you restored my faith in my profession!! :kiss
Hang in there, all of you. It gets easier over time....once you learn how things work...the nursing is the same!!

I'm glad you're enjoying your job! I'm not certain that I would characterize where I am now as my dream job, but it's a really nice place for a new nurse, so it may very well be close to a dream job. And yes, a good bit of it is the coworkers. We have a smattering of every type, but not a whole lot of the negative types, such that you have a decent chance of not working with a grouch and a decent chance of not reporting off to one, either.
I'm glad you're in a good group. You're probably an inspiration to those new nurses.
