Applying Out of State

Specializes in Acute Care RN.

Hi there! I have a complex situation and looking for advice. I'm finishing up my first year as a nurse and getting ready to move across the country to AZ in the beginning of January.

I already have my license in AZ & have been looking into the hospitals near phoenix. My dilemma is that I will have exactly 1 year of experience come January, however applying in advance it will appear as less time. I do plan on staying at my current position until right before we leave so that I do hit the 1 year mark. Some jobs I've seen are requiring 1 year of experience or else ask that you apply to their new nurse residency programs that I dont believe would be a good fit for me.

Anyhow, I'm looking for advice on

1. When to start applying for a job (start date would be 2nd-3rd week of January)

2. How to not get looked over for not having one year of experience *yet* while showing my intention of working until I hit the one year mark

3. Anything relevant to getting a job out of state- I'm so nervous!

Thank you all in advance!!
