Applying to Chamberlain nj

Hi everyone I just joined!

Im currently applying to Chamberlain in New Jersey.. actually will be taking the entrance exam in 2 hours! I’m thinking if I got in to possibly start in march or whatever session that comes after January so that I can finish the remaining prerequisites.
A little about me, I’m coming from New York so hopefully I’ll move near campus once I find out if I got in. I’m finishing my associates in pre clinical nursing this semester in NY. I’ve finished my A&P 1&2 ( did pretty well), psychology classes, English classes, some math classes, history etc. I know I still have to take Microbiology, Chemistry, statistics and a few others such as political science/ethics but I was informed by my advisor that I can take most (or all) online using study.com! You can do it in your own pace and test out of those courses which I thought was pretty neat. I was also informed that they would need to be complete or in the process of being completed before I start. Those classes are not offered in this campus as far as I know. But having the flexibility to take them online and take some “time off” before I start AND reduce the time and cost of the program is a hugee blessing.

I will update about the process and information I get along the way. I know I’ve been lurking here looking for more information, and possibly other people are too. Hoping to post information about how long the program would be for me since I’ve completed/completing the prerequisites, how much it would be after that and financial aid etc etc

Ill update about HESI after I take it/get my results. As of now the topics on the test are reading & comprehension, vocabulary & general knowledge, biology and anatomy and physiology. Topics such as math, grammar, Chemistry and physics is not required. I’m not sure if that means I still have to take it but we’ll see.

More importantly I want to know who else is planning on attending this campus in January/ March! Hopefully we can connect :)

Hey! I plan on starting at the nj campus in January! I also live in NY but I plan on commuting to the NJ campus since it’s only 2-3 days a week and I still plan on working. I took the HESI and my next step is the financial advisement meeting.. did you decide when you want to start?

Hi!

I just heard back from my admissions advisor that they recently got my transcripts. For some reason it took them way over a month to get my transcripts from my old school. I was just informed that they made a slight change to their science prerequisites, where before you could take science courses such as chem/Microbiology at study.com but now I have to take those classes in person or test out of them. Although other prerequisites can be taken at study.com, I’m still not sure when I plan to start. They also said that the march start date isn’t available anymore so the one after January would be May. So far I’m thinking of starting January but I’m not sure. I will know when they get back to me after evaluation!

Welcome to Chamberlain NJ! I am out the door this April (thank god!), some students give the school a bad rep but it's honestly not that bad. There are a lot of different resources that the school gives you for your money. We have a new campus president and I wish I had her in the beginning!

I'm applying for May start! I'm taking my exam in an hour!

Hello. Any update on your journey at chamberlain? I'm trying to start for May but I feel rushed to take the HESI exam...

Sorry I'm late on the update, but I did end up getting accepted! I only found out about 2 days before the January start session, but because it was last minute I decided to wait until the next semester. My advisor did say that my acceptance was valid for one year? So hopefully it holds up, but honestly it wouldn't be the biggest hassle for me to take the HESI again.

When I took the HESI, I had problems with my computer and the proctor system. I freaked out for like 45minutes while I was on the phone with them. They somehow got me in and by then I was a stressed mess. On camera. Anyways I honestly felt like I was going to give it my worst attempt at that point and I was rushing through it. They showed the grades at the end and I only saw it for a minute because I exited the exam thinking they would send me the scores (they didn't )so I'm not 100% sure on exactly what I got. But they did round up the score a bit when my advisor called me to tell me. On my actual HESI I believe my vocab was in the 90s, mid 80s for reading comprehension, high 70s for biology and high 80s for anatomy. don't freak out over the test, I believe they give a second attempt and you should utilize it since you will know what you're up against.

Hey guys any updates? I plan on starting at chamberlain September start date!

hi. I got accepted for the May 2023 semester but decided on starting for the September semester instead. The school reached out to me like the Friday and class started the Monday. I wasnt ready! I would like to get some input from the original poster as well.

Yes, I plan to start in September too but my advisor has been awol. My guess is they only reach back out when it gets closer to the semester start date, but in the meantime I've been taking tutoring classes online for certain subjects I know I'll struggle with. I was honestly anxious about starting for months, but I feel a lot better now that I have somewhat of a rough idea/head start.
If you have any questions let me know!

thanks for the response! I'm a bit nervous myself. My advisor has been MIA as well, whoch I figure would happen since im not doing any classes currently.  I completed majority of my prereqs from other colleges. I do need five more classes. I see you spoke about study.com. I would like to look into this in the meantime before starting in September. I have chem, history, communications, critical thinking and principles of ethics left to take. Have you tried taking any of these online? or already taken them at another school? I was never told about study.com from my advisor.

Hey guys. I'm taking the HESI tomorrow.  Is there a reason why someone foy ou took prereqs ahead of joining? Wondering if I should have gone that route?

I havent been in school for over a decade and am looking to do a full bachelor's program and get my BSN and eventually my MSN.

Hi everyone, I am sorry for the late response. It has been a while since I first responded. I did begin in January and it has been pretty hectic ever since. So far, I have not had many issues with the school that are no different from other schools. I am finishing up my third session and boy, does it go by quickly. My suggestion to everyone is to take as many prerequisites outside of the school so that it can alleviate your plan a bit and cut your costs by a lot. I hear that some of the prerequisites are more difficult than taking them at other schools such as A&P (especially since the passing grade is a 76 for all courses). I think if you fail two courses, you get kicked out of the school. Other than that, the school has its pros and cons, but what school doesn't. The pros outweigh the cons in my opinion.  Let me know if you have any specific questions! I'd be more than happy to help :) Good luck everyone!
