Application Essay

I am applying to an FNP program, but am STUMPED by the essay prompt:

Critical thinking skills are an essential aspect of leadership in nursing. Describe a specific example of a conflict you have experienced in your professional role in which you utilized critical thinking skills to resolve an issue. Why do you see this as an effective us of critical thinking?

I can come up with a couple examples but don't think I can talk about my thought process for 2-3 pages. I feel like I'm probably overthinking this. Also, I'm a career changer nurse. My first career was in Operations so I have a TON of examples to talk about. Do you think it's OK to use a non-nursing example?

Explain what you did, or how you resolved the problem

Sent from my iPhone using allnurses. Pardon for any misspelled words, I blame it on auto-correct.

Critical thinking does not apply to just nursing. Our every day lives depends on some form of resolving problems. I agree with Obigdog26! Just tell your story and the juices will start to flow. When I had to do my essay I was stumped and frustrated till I got a clear view what the essay is asking what to write about. I had to re-write it 3 times. So just relax and let it flow.
