Application essay advice

Published

I'm working on a few applications to transfer from Community College to a University. I still have about 2 semesters of pre-reqs to finish up so I am not able to apply directly to the nursing programs. I'm trying not to over think it BUT I am having the most difficult time deciding if I should write about my desire to be a nurse in the application essay, or something else as It's not an application to their nursing school just yet. Does anyone have any experience with a similar situation, or any advice?

For California at least, out of the 11 CSUs that I am applying to, only 2 of them required a personal statement essay.

My advice to you is to stop worrying about an personal statement and focus on your current prerequisite classes, because this is what determines if you get accepted or not. Every university is different, and I don't think you should try to create one now because by the time you are able to apply, the prompts may have changed or they may no longer accept statements.

Yeah. What you have to write about changes from year to year and even program requirements change. Programs have went from personal statements to requiring interview instead or even to just going off of test scores and GPA. I agree that there's no use in worrying about it even before you start applying.

Thanks so much for your advice!

I guess I need to work on that whole "well written" aspect too! I meant to mention that I am applying to a university in hopes of finishing my final pre-reqs before applying to the nursing program.
