1) Does any one happen to know of a site or articles pertaining to the apache II questionaire?
2) Does your hospital use this?
If so, who fills it out.
3) Does your hospital or any hospital use this as a benchmark/ranking or is it a consideration ever in receiving reimbursement?
Does JACHO look at it (I'm so far saying/finding no. If you have any info to the contrary, please let me know).
Thanks in advance. It's annual project time.

1) Just google "apache icu validity" and you'll get plenty of info. Nope, we don't use it. 3) Also the score is not a factor considered in reimbursement; medical complexity is a factor and there are proprietary programs to assist in determining/maximizing appropriate reimbursement.

We use the Apache scoring system. We fill it out with new admits and then every morning (after labs) initally we use it to determine if we need immediate intervention by an intensivist. Other wise they do not get involved unless the patient has been in the ICU for 48 hours.
As far as I know there is no correlation between that and any reimbursement or with JACHO.
