Anyone taking the ANCC 2015?

Hey guys! I just wanted to know if anyone is signed up to take the ANCC examination? Or if anyone has tips for the exam? I've been studying and hope to take mine in July!

Anyone know if the ANCC is still using JNC-8 or 7 on their exam?

Hello!

I just took ANCC FNP on 5/26 and passed! I read Leik's FNP certification intensive review second edition and took the tests in the back. I also did the Fitzgerald review and listened to a review by the APEA, which was phenomenal (and better than Fitzgerald in my opinion!)

I will tell you that my exam had pictures on it. Probably 8-10? Identifying rashes, Heberden's nodules, eye emergencies, acne and vascular emergency. There was also many multiple choice, however, they tell you to pick 3 of the six, so I did not find those terribly challenging. There was also mix and match question, you drop and drag the box with the correct answer to the box with the question. They did that with some research studies, where you placed the study in order of significance.

I did not have many questions on htn, but I think I recall it saying "eighth," the test spelled out JNC so I sort of went through it quick.

I will tell you this: I had only 20 minutes left when I finished the test. I took my time and read the questions twice, they do have some lengthy ones in there! They give the brand and generic name of drugs, but they do not give ranges on lab values. It was basic stuff, like lipid profiles and electrolytes. Some ranges on blood pressures and A1C's, making sure you know your ranges and when to treat and when you can monitor.

I found a lot of the test was using critical reasoning and deduction. I hope this helps you!

Good luck in July!

Took it in March 2015. Using JNC8. About 200 questions, can't exactly recall how many! I used Barkley for my study guide - passed on the first try. Few tips - there will questions that will make you HIGHLY doubt yourself. For example, there was something about a patient needing an invasive procedure but did not have the means to pay for it. They wanted to know what you would in that situation.

Good luck!
