Just wondering if anyone on here goes to Austin Community College, or knows a bit more about their nursing school. I'm hopefully going to be applying to the nursing school there next spring, for fall admission. :) Working on my pre-req's now! Anyone else?

Yes, I go to ACC... I am in RNSG 1105 right now, hopefully I will get in this fall...letters go out by April 7th!
I started here in '03 - it has been a long road - but I work full time and so I was only able to take one class at a time.
What classes have you taken? I can recommend instructors for pretty much all of the pre-reqs....the admissions office is a little disorganized, but don't let it get you down. Sometimes you just have to keep calling them, the most helpful person there is Tammy. She is great!
Let me know if I can help in any way!
Good luck!
Yayyy!! Another ACC student!
Hope you get in!! April 7th isn't that far away... So, you can take the preliminary nursing course (RSNG 1105) just whenever you put your application in?? They make it sound like it has to be accepted first... I think it says it can be taken after "placement on the ranking list" or something... Because I was wondering about that...
Well, so far I've taken a lot of the non-nursing classes inside the course. Spanish, English comp 1, and Intro to speech (Petkus is AWESOME). I've taken all those online, plus history 2 and texas gov (before I decided to do the nursing program). This summer I HAVE to take the 5.5 week anatomy course in the last half. And unfortunately, the prof hasn't been picked yet (it's a "staff" class). :uhoh21: I am praying hard that I get a decent professor. Because I really want to keep my good grades (4.0 right now).
And... for the rest. I'm taking physiology, pharmacology, and intro to microbiology this fall. And then I'm going to clep college algebra, human growth and dev, and intro to psychology somewhere in there. It'll be busy! But, I should have all my prereqs and non-nursing courses done by this Dec!
To add to it all... I'm still in high school. But, I'm homeschooled so I can work on it at twice the speed if I want to (which is what I'm doing now). I should finish it by June, if I keep working really hard on it. I'll be graduating basically a year early. :balloons:
Which professors did you like for Physiology, Intro to Micro, and Pharmacology?
Thanks
They have to give you permission, it is confusing, but it is the next 100 in line that haven't taken it based on the ranking.
Good luck with the anatomy, it's rough in 5.5 weeks, we are you taking it?
I can't recommend my Intro to Micro, she was terrible (her first name is Jodi, that's all I'll say - email me if you need more)
Pharmacology, I had Elizabeth Bodman....She is AWESOME!! She teaches at CYP and EVC, maybe at RVS too. She is good, made it very easy. Make sure you go to the workshop they have, particuarly Anne's. Very helpful.
Physiology I had Eric VanGorkem (sp?) at CYP. Very nice guy...sometimes kinda hard, but I learned what I needed to....and he's funny and lets you out early sometimes;) shhhhhhh!
I'd recommend taking college math over algebra, do you still have a choice? If so, I recommend Lance Erickson, GREAT instructor, and very neat - he travels a lot and has lots of stories. He made it sooooooooo easy. The easiest A I ever made. That is unless you feel the need to take Algebra:uhoh21:
Let me know if you need anything else!
I'm taking anatomy at RGC. It's the only 5.5 anatomy class they have in the last half of the summer. Thanks for the prof opinions! :)
Well, I'm going to try to CLEP college algebra. But, if I don't pass it, then I'll probably take either it or college math. I'm just hoping I pass the CLEP!
Good luck with A&P!:)
I'm a tad bit frustrated because they just changed the website to say that letters will be mailed by the 14th instead of the 7th!:angryfire :Crash:
Ok, playing with the smilies makes me feel a little better!
What a letdown!!! Well... hopefully it'll just be here before you know it... :wink2:

I have applied to the program, with a 3.2 GPA and 7 on the HESI, although I have completed all my co-reqs. Can anyone tell me when I could look forward to getting accepted?
Thanks in advance

I took Pharm online with Espinosa, but it was really boring and hard to make myself watch those monotonous videos! I had Felix Villarreal for Intro to Micro, and loved it. Great class, knowledgeable instructor, lots of fun overall. I took Sarah Strong for Phys, and though I don't truly know her stats, I DO know of at least 2 students who worked their butts off and got a D in her class...it was really tough. And honestly, taking these 3 classes together made for a HARD semester for me, but I also have two children (5yrs and almost 2yrs) and help my husband run his business! Best of luck!
