Any CNA's here?

cna course length depends on what state requirements are, and how many days a week class is held.

the requirements are usually stated in hours. Missouri requires 100 hours of clinical training and 80 hours of class time. The course I took had classes two days a week, so the course lasted ten weeks.

Most ltc facilities here offer in house courses that are free if you work iin that facility. Some require a six month to one year responsibility after you receive your certification. If you don't fulfill the time required after certification you pay the facility for the course.

Most all State requirements for the cirriculum include:

Legal rights and responsibilities of the CNA

patient rights

infection control and prevention

oral care

peri-care

transfer of patient

housekeeping and maintenance protocols

emergency protocols (fire, tornado, bomb, earthquake...)

observation and reporting

charting responsibilities

taking and recording of vital signs

hygiene

input and output protocols and reporting

there are other things I can't think of, as well as some that are facility only requirements.
