Algebra

Hello Everyone!

I am new to this forum, I am currently taking my prerequisites for the nursing program and I just enrolled in College Algebra. I was wondering if anyone here is/was horrible in Algebra and how did you overcome your fear and made it through this course? I am freaking out and I need advise.

Thank you!

When I started back to school, it had been 35 years since I took any math. I was real bad at it in HS, and really hated it. Knowing it was a weakness, I prepared for it by going to "Khan Academy" online, and repeating it till I understood. I would master one thing before moving into the next. One thing I learned is that algebra is not really that difficult, it just seems that way when you don't understand it. I worked my way through math 91 to math 99 and did better than I thought. One thing though, you need to find the best professors for it. You can go to "Rate My Professor" but be aware that some of those ratings are by angry students who earned an F. just go for the highest rated professors. You will do fine.

Khan Academy - it is free, online, and an AMAZING resource. I've never been great at math and was worried about going back to school. After using Khan Academy to review I went from testing into Math 98 to testing into Calculus - and my College Algebra requirement was waived! Plus I have a lot more confidence in my math skills now - for the first time in my life math makes sense!
