Algebra Help, PLEASE!!!

All the problems are a matter of simplifying the equations. Can you describe the problems you are having? For each question, describe how you are trying to solve the problems.

I have three math problems that I need help with. I have the solutions but I do not know how they got them. If anyone can help that would be great. None of my friends seem to be able to help me and every web site that I have been to wants money. I don't want to pay for a tutor just to get three problems answered. Because I cannot write them out as mathematical equations on this site I am writing it out in words in hopes that you can help me.

1. if xy is not equal to 0 and x is not equal to y and x is not equal to -y then

(3/y - 3/x) / 1/y^2 - 1/x^2 = ?

(the ^2 means to the 2nd power in case you did not know)

2. what is the square root of: 2^1 + 2^2 / 2^3 (the entire problem has a square root symbol over)

3. ab-c = cb and a is not equal to c then b=

Again if you can help I would greatly appreciate it. I could not make the sign for not equal to that is why I wrote it out. I have learned over three months of Algebra in a little over a week, and I have greatly improved my scores, but I still have trouble with problems like these that don't seem to make any rational sense. Thank you again for any help you can give me.

oh and the answers that I was given for these problems are:

1. 3xy/x+y

2. square root of 3 over 2

3. b= c/a-c or b= c over a-c

I got the answers from an online algebra calculator, but it would not tell me how it got the answers and so it did not help me any

i would solve for x or y, then substitute to solve for the other.

2^1 + 2^2 / 2^3 (the entire problem has a square root symbol over)

= 2^1 + 2^(-1) (the entire problem has a square root symbol over)

=2 + 1/2 (the entire problem has a square root symbol over)

= 5/2 (the entire problem has a square root symbol over)

sorry, but for the way your question is written, the answer is (5/2)^1/2

it gives me a headache to figure out what you meant to write. srry

ab-c = cb

ab-cb = c

b(a-c) = c

b = c / (a-c)

(or if you want to simply further, you would factor out the c to get c(1/(a-1)) = (c/a) - (c/1) = (c/a) -c
