Advice

I've been a nurse for 9 yrs and went into the field (pardon the cliche) to help others.

I started as a labor and delivery RN x 5 yrs and kind of fell into quality (which I've been doing for about 3 1/2 yrs).

I miss working with patients and have been contemplating go back to school for an FNP. Currently, I'm finishing up a Master of Management program (another thing I kind of fell into).

Here's my question....I'm extremely nervous about making this leap. Has anyone else out there made a similar move into foreign waters so to speak? Do you regret it? I feel like I wasn't meant do what I'm doing now, but am not sure that going the FNP route would be the best.

I guess I'm just anxious and afraid and looking for clarity. Any thoughts or comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I look forward to hearing what others have to say- maybe those who are FNP can give you help. I just wanted to say " you can do it" if direct patient care is what you love . Your experience in management will always be an asset to your work in nursing and you never know how it will impact your NP practice. I just want to wish you luck and happiness in following your heart!
