Advice for a student?

Published

Hi peoples!

Im still an undergrad, have completed my prereq's and NLN exam and feel im in good standing for getting into CCSN's RN program for spring. I plan on taking advantage of the student reimburse program at valley health systems to help with school.

I really don't know much about getting loans and such but would need some help with getting by for the next two years.

Also, If i apply for a pell grant, does this mean im not allowed to take advantage of the financial aid through fafsa?

Since most of you guys and girls have already been through this, can anyone help with some pointers on how to go about supporting myself?

thanks,

any info about credit unions, loans, prioritizing is appreciated.

I don't know anything about financial aide, just getting ready to apply for it myself.

Good luck to you with your app! This fall semester had over 800 apps with 23 points being the cutoff (hear-say). I believe spring is easier to get into since a lot of the people applying havent received grades from the fall to apply to their points.

After the 1st semester you can apply at several different hospitals for a position as a nurse apprentice and make decent money. They work with your schooling 100%.

Something I found out about the Valley Adopt a Student program is that the money from Valley is counted as financial aide. I applied and was accepted but was told by financial aid that I was only eligible for $250 per semester due to other aide (loans, pell grant and GI Bill). This ticked me off because the money from Valley is essentially your sign on bonus in advance.

So, I turned down the Valley program and now I just got hired at Summerlin Hospital with a sign on bonus for $2300. Good thing I didn't lock into their program.
