Advice for new grad?

Published

Any advice for a new grad RN? I just want to cry every time I come to this site and see folks who are still in nursing school and have NO CLUE that there aren't a-n-y jobs waiting for them.

I have applied to probably hundreds of jobs in Washington and Oregon since June. And I have written my cover letters specifically for each and every one. Although there was a nursing specialty that I hoped to go into, I will take any hospital floor at this point. Right now I have part-time, temp RN jobs but nothing in a hospital--and nothing particularly satisfying or challenging.

Are any hospitals in WA or OR hiring BSN new grads? Will they ever? Or should I just go back to admin work that is more reliable so that I can pay off my loans... and forget about health care? :o

Dont give up!! I currently work with a new grad RN with a BSN from U of P and she is working as a med aid, because she is in the same boat is you. Just find something in the mean time, while you are still applying, so you have an income, maybe try home health. Keep sending in those applications, something eventually will turn up. I know the RN I work with told me she had an interview in Idaho, a week ago. You may try looking to other states if you are able to relocate for awhile until things pickup. I congratulate you on finishing nursing school with a BSN, what an accomplishment you have made!! GOOD LUCK on your search!!
