advice for a new grad??

I am a May graduate (ADN) who started work in a OB unit as an LPN orienting to the floor (Post-P, post-surg) the first of April. We have about 700 deliveries a year and I was hired to train for L&D after passing RN boards. During my interview I asked about staffing and was told that they always had at least 4 nurses on, and usually 8, and assumed she was referring to L&D since that's the position I was hiring for in the long run. However, since starting work I've realized that on nights there is one labor nurse, one nursery nurse and 1-3 nurses on "the floor". When I expressed my anxiety about this setup since I will be working nights, I was assured that even after my orientation period there would always be another nurse on the floor who was trained for labor in case I got in a bind or needed advice, etc. However, I've noticed otherwise during my shifts. Occasionally if we are low-census, that is not the case. The other night when I was orienting, there were 3 nurses there: an LPN on the floor, an RN in nursery who was not trained for labor, and the labor nurse. Would this make you nervous as the labor nurse. As a new grad this scares me to death, but I'm thinking that even if I had 5 years of experience I'd still like to have another nurse on site trained in L&D for bouncing things off of etc due to the liability. Am I overreacting? Any advice??? I'm strongly considering quitting this job and taking a PRN position at another larger L&D unit...
