Hey folks,

I thought that this might be a great thread for those newly minted CNA's. Do you have any advice? Thanks in advance!!

Treat every patient as if they were your loved one!

Do not gossip or get involved in the politics of the floor.

Never consider yourself "just a cna."

Learn to organize your day, but accept the fact that things always seem to go off course!

Don't forget that you are there to help the nurse.

Don't forget that you are an important part of the team.

Do not second guess your b/p's and go with whatever b/p the last person documented. If you heard 210/116...let the nurse know and be confident that you heard it right. Do not just write down respirations as 18 on everyone unless it is true. Respiratory rate is VERY important.

Be a professional. Do not use slang. Put the cell phone away. Remember..you represent the hospital, nursing home, etc...

And......Treat every patient as if they were your loved one!
