Advice on getting a tech position?

I'm currently in my 3rd semester of nursing school. I would really like to get a tech position in the OR as I finish out school. Something to help set me apart from the stack of resume's they will receive by all the new grads, not to mention the obvious experience. I've applied to a couple of these in my area at the larger hospitals. However, I can't even seem to get a call back. They basically require no experience, so I'm wondering what I am doing wrong. My question is, is there a way to try and get in touch with a hiring manager directly? I'm even doing clinicals in one of the hospitals that I have applied at. I mean, I don't want to just show up on the surgery floor asking who I need to talk to, but I'm trying to be as proactive as possible. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!!
