Thanks

ahhhhhhhhhhhh
as a nurse practitioner I have been involved in trying to get the role of the NP recognised by the NMC. Jonathan Ashbridge at the recent NP conference said we were total pains! for the NP forum it has meant lobbying, writing, presenting evidence, having the RCN support and yep.. being pains!
so I think maybe its about being aware of the differences between specialities and how hard we work to gain that knowledge, and maybe telling others! as a group nurses are not good at blowing their own trumpets. time to do so!
there is a fair bit in the practice nursing press about this, asking for responses. whats interesting is that they are talking about levels of competency rather than titles. In a way I think the title is important, it tells the patient what to expect from that nurse. not sure what I think about Health visitors becoming public health nurses.. how will that affect their perception of the role? As an NP I think my title tells the patient what level of care they can recieve- well if we all were educated to the same level it would! so in a way maybe the 2 issues go hand in hand!
ok- too late to get too philosophical and my spelling is terrible so excuse any mistakes... bit brain dead after starting my flu clinic marathon.. 40 given only 2960 to go....................
