ADN-BSN??

Hello everyone! I am currently a community college student and obviously my major is nursing :roflmao: I have a few questions about the application and transfer process.

1. I plan to transfer to a 4 year

2. Do I have to enroll in a 2 year nursing program before I want to transfer to a 4 year?

3. Is it possible to complete all the pre-reqs and graduation requirements and then transfer to a BSN program?

I am highly confused with all this :unsure: so I'd appreciate all the help and advice I can get!

    You need to talk directly with the BSN program you want to transfer to. Each school has its own rules and requirements. What is true for one school may not be true for another. So someone here may tell you what the situation was for her particular school, but that might be totally wrong for the school you are wanting to attend.

    Go to their website and/or pick up the phone and make an appointment to talk with someone at the school about their requirements for people in your situation. The school may even have group advising sessions where they go over all that stuff for prospective students who have questions similar to yours.

    But the bottom line is: you need to be talking directly to the particular school that interests you.

    Are you IN the ADN program now? If you're going from ADN to BSN, most schools call it RN-BSN and want an RN license, certain GPA, possible certain amount of work as an RN, certain pre-reqs, etc. So to answer the first question, if you're talking an RN-BSN program, you'll need to complete an accredited program to sit for the RN licensure. I'm not sure what you mean by the second question. Do you mean complete the BSN pre-reqs while in your ADN program?

    Thank you for your reply. I'm currently completing my pre requisites I'm waiting to take Anatomy 1 and 2 and Micro. And what I was asking is if it's possible to avoid going into an ADN program and instead get a regular associates degree and transfer into a 4 year for a BSN program

    Yes it's possible to transfer. You need to talk to the schools you want to go to. Call the transfer office and call the nursing department. An important thing will be your GPA. You will likely need well above the minimize. Not because you are a transfer student but because that's how nursing is. You may also need to transfer and then apply to nursing school after you are in and taking classes.

    Bottom line is call the schools.

    Oh yea, absolutely! Like everyone has mentioned, it depends on what schools you are considering and their requirements but some don't even require completing the A.A. (although not a bad idea). Some have a set-up where you complete 30+ credits in certain areas and then transfer. It's a great idea to go straight for the BSN if you can get in without spending too many cycles applying. If your GPA needs a little work or something like that, ADN is a great start and you can do the BSN online in 1-2 years once you finish.
