Hey everyone!

I have been a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner for the past 5 years and feel I am burned out on seeing patients on a daily basis. I recently switched jobs, thinking it was my environment, but just two months into the new job and I dread seeing patients and love when I have a no-show.

I have looked into some non-clinical positions but most are for RN's or require past coding/insurance review experience. I have applied to some of them but I get responses that I am "not qualified enough" even with an APN and business degree.

Any advice or suggestions? I would prefer to make $70K or more.

Thank you in advance.

Hmmm.....great idea. I'll admit to the days where if I have to listen to another pt, I'll scream - lol

Options?

Do you have an MBA? In my area, the MSN/MBA is a hot degree.

What about academia?

Managing a psych practice?

I do locum tenens as a psych np. I have an outpatient and an inpatient placement I return to. The outpatient is quite draining though i really like the staff and the patient population. The inpatient is forensic, I don't see as many patients and there is a lot of meetings and writing notes and reports and I get to research a lot of patients prior treatment. I have a psych np friend who tells me that half her job at a state psychiatric facility is preparing for or being in court. So maybe look around at different settings. I do think straight outpatient is exhausting.
