I am considering the University of Miami's Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program. Just wondering if there are any current students or past graduates that can give me some insight into the program. How do you feel the program prepared you? What were the likes and dislikes of the program? What's was the job market like specifically for an acute care practitioner after graduation...did you find a job quickly, etc. Its a one year intense program and I am sure its competitive so any insight on the application and interview process would also be great. Thanks in advance!

The Acute Care Nurse Practitioner at the University of Miami School of Nursing is an excellent program. The level of expertise of the current instructors is incredible. They all work as Acute Care Nurse Practitioners in local hospitals. The program is very well organize. They find your preceptors and they also try to maximize the students' experiences in the different acute care areas. There is an increasing need in ACNP in ICUs and ER units around the country. I had 2 offers before I finished with the program. I recommend you to apply early and submit all the required documents on time. Make sure you review main Pathophysiology and pharmacology concepts before the interview. I really recommend you the program.
Thanks so much for your insight. Getting my references together and am gonna apply.
