Does ayone have any experience with online ACLS renewal? There are several outfits offering it, and because of time constraints I'm contemplating the one offered by AMRG http://www.aclsonline.us/recert/pages/home.jsp
My recruiter (I'm a traveler) is trying to tell me that hospitals only accept the AHA version. I don't see how this can be true, but I suppose it could. She's not a nurse, so I don't know if she has the full info. I asked the info desk at AMRG but the answer wasn't quite helpful.
Any feedback?

more than likely, your acls will have to be through aha guidelines/aha approved.
so, that information from your recruiter is correct. i don't have any experience with any acls online except via aha.
heartcode® acls anywhere®complete the 10 core cases and exam on your own computer, attend a skills check-off at an aha training center or just enhance your skills by practicing and receive immediate feedback.

I'm told that AHA does not approve corses, only sells them through their franchise. AMRG states that their course is within AHA guidelines.
Problem is in finding someone to run the megacode for me. I've tried some of the hospitals hereabouts and they're not very friendly to non-staff.
The courses taught in hospitals and other entites that are AHA ACLS must meet AHA approval. All must be a Training Center - TC (approved by AHA) or a member of a TC.
If the course uses AHA approved ACLS guidelines and the core courses are as AHA states, the program should be o.k. One thing you need to ask with this program is do you receive an AHA ACLS certification card. That would be what your agency would want to see so you meet the travel hospital's rules/regs/policy/procedure, etc.
As for the hospitals not accepting non-staff, that should never be a problem for you are the one paying for it, not them.
Good luck.
Go here to find an ACLS program for your state. Could be one where you could arrange to just show up and do the testing (megacodes):

I've been to all that, and the problem I'm having is in finding a person to do my megacode through the AHA business. This is a small area and hospitals are pretty clannish. I can sign up for a class in a nearby city next month but that is going to mess up my travel schedule.
Have you tried a Fire Department? Check there. Many are their own TC and have Paramedics who will do this.

Community Colleges or Nursing schools are also a good place to get re-certified. I was lucky enough to have a travel assignment that allowed me to take it at the hospital along with their regular staff for free.
Well, now I've been informed that my ACLS has been expired for too long (60 days) and now I have to do the 2-day class. AHA is the most UN-helpful outfit I've ever dealt with as far as finding a class. I'm basically having to individually call every hospital in a 200 mile radius.
Yes, that is too long a lapse to do the 1-day recertification.
Sorry you are having such difficulty.
